Iván López Núñez is an award winning film director and screen writer from Barcelona, based in Amsterdam. His series MAX & BILLY’S DRILL MACHINE GIRL was nominated for an International Emmy Award.
In his early years Iván López Núñez, developed an interest for comics, animation and film. In Barcelona he studied video, photography and animation and started making short films.
In 2003 he moved to Amsterdam to study at the Netherlands Film Academy. His student short film DE OVERKANT won the Silver Méliès at the Imagine Film Festival and his graduation film PIJN won the Nassenstein Startprijs and got selected for several international festivals, including the prestigious Clermont-Ferrand. The same year his commercial MAFFIA won a Young Director Award at the Cannes Lions Commercial.
His TV movie BARBOSA received a Golden Calf nomination for Best TV Drama at the annual Netherlands Film Festival. In 2012 Iván directed his first feature film MY LIFE ON PLANET B that won the MovieSquad award at the Netherlands Film Festival. He wrote and directed MAX and BILLY’S DREAM MACHINE GIRL that got awarded with an International Digital Emmy nomination.
He has directed episodes for several successful Dutch TV series such as STERKE VERHALEN UIT ZOUDVLOED, BNN’s VAN GOD LOS and more recently PROJECT ORPHEUS, VLUCHT HS13 and B.A.B.S.
Iván is currently working on his second feature film, which he will write and direct.
